My trip to Dubai
Three years ago, in June 2018, I got
a chance to visit Dubai. My brother was there. He had been working as a manager
in a department store. He was popular there. I was thrilled when I overheard my
brother talking to my friend's father; Bimal's father on the phone for me to
join my Bimal's family in their holiday to Dubai. On the first day I didn’t go
anywhere. I just stayed in my brother's room. On the second day I went to Burj
Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa was
very impressive. It had 124 stairs. We saw the panoramic view from the 124th
floor observation deck of Burj Khalifa. The view from the top needs to be seen
to be believed. It was very busy at the top with lots posing for selfies, to
avoid the high photo prices (285 dirham for 1 photo). Souvenirs and photos were
quite pricey there. I also visited Dubai Mall. The mall was so vast we didn’t
have a clue where to go. We also visited Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina another
day.
I could not sleep because of
excitement. The following morning, my brother informed me of the good news: that
I would be going to Sharjah for three days, and that I would accompany my
friend's family. They moved there from Nepal five years ago. The next day we
went to Sharjah. We were going to spend three days there. My brother took
casual leave for 3 days too. He managed time for me to visit some of the
popular cities of UAE.
I knew that Sharjah is the capital city of the United Arab
Emirates. It is popular for its efforts to preserve the area's history. This city
is given the title of Cultural Capital of the Arab World by UNESCO in
1998. I was very excited to visit that capital city and the museums in Sharjah.
I found in google that for museum and art lovers, Sharjah is crammed full of
excellent sightseeing opportunities. So, I visited the renowned Sharjah
Museum of Islamic Civilization and the Art Museum which
were the city's major tourist attractions.
In this way I spend the most memorable days in the UAE visiting
Dubai and Sharjah. My brother helped me in everything in that visit. I stayed
with my brother for 15 days in Dubai. From that visit I learnt many things
related to Muslim culture and religion. The Muslim women covered their body
parts with black cloth. They believed that to reveal the parts of body as sin.
The law and order was also strict there. Finally, I flew back to Nepal after 15
days. The visit is still fresh in my mind.
