A Farmer and his Quarrelsome Sons

Once upon a time there was a farmer in a small village. He had several sons. They always quarreled with each other. One day, he fell ill and he was immediately taken to hospital. His condition was very serious. He was ready to die. Before he was dying, he called his sons. His sons came and stood around him. Then, he asked his sons to bring the sticks. They brought the sticks. The farmer made a bundle of sticks and gave them a bundle of sticks. He told each of them to break the sticks. They all tried one by one in turn but no one could break the sticks. After that, the farmer untied the bundle and gave the sticks separately to his sons. They easily broke each stick. They realized that unity is strength. Since then, they lived together without quarrelling each other for ever.

Moral: Unity is strength

 

C. Put the verb in the bracket in its correct form. Use either was or were
and v-ing.
