C. In some aspects, high school education might be more
challenging than college education. Think some of the challenges and share in
the class.
Here are some of the challenges
of high school education in simple terms:
Wide range of courses: High school students have to take more courses than college
students.
Closely Monitored vs.
Independence: In high school,
students are typically under closer supervision from teachers and parents,
which can create a structured learning environment. College, on the other hand,
requires more self-discipline and independent learning as students have to
manage their studies on their own.
Rigidity vs. Flexibility: High school often follows a rigid schedule, with set
class times and subjects. In college, students have more flexibility in
choosing their courses and creating their schedules. However, this flexibility
can also be a challenge as students need to manage their time effectively and
make responsible decisions.
Depth of Material: College courses generally delve deeper into subjects
and might cover complex and specialized topics. High school education, while
demanding, may not always explore subjects as comprehensively.
Financial Burden: College education usually comes with significant
financial costs, including tuition, books, and living expenses. This financial
burden can be a challenge for both students and their families.
Assessment Methods: High school assessments are usually more frequent and
cover a broader range of topics. College assessments, such as exams and papers,
might carry more weight and require deeper understanding and critical thinking.
This shift can be challenging for students who are used to memorizing facts for
high school exams.
Life Skills: College education often coincides with moving away
from home, requiring students to learn life skills such as budgeting, cooking,
and managing household tasks. These additional responsibilities can add to the
overall challenge of the college experience.
